About

20240904_102729.jpg

The natural world has been the foundation of my creative practice for many years.  With a strong link to ecology and conservation, after a career as an ecologist.  The main creative focus has been in illustration, working on commissions, exhibiting artwork, writing a book, and teaching for over 20 years.  Now the balance has changed and I work in textiles too.

I come from a family of stitchers and I have sewn since childhood, particularly enjoying embroidery.  Now, this and tapestry weaving are part of my everyday creative practice.

I work form my studio on the south coast in Hampshire, as well as exploring further afield to seek inspiration.

Vision

My vision is to expand my creative experience in both of these areas, whilst still focusing on the natural world, but also including landscape features and other areas of interest connected to the environment.

My tapestry weaving has been exhibited at the prestigious St. Barbe Open Exhibition in 2025 and I am working towards exhibiting my work in further venues.

I am also a member of the British Tapestry Group and the Embroiderers Guild.
